ATR 42-600 / 72-600 receives major update in MSFS

The ATR 42-600 / 72-600 (read our review here) from Hans Hartmann and Microsoft has received today its first update, bringing a wealth of fixes to the aircraft that launched for Microsoft Flight Simulator last week. The update, version 1.0.8, is now available for download from the in-sim Content Manager.

The update introduces a series of changes to the aircraft’s MCDU and other flight systems, aiming to fix errors and bugs that have been reported by simmers. Fixes have been implemented for distance to destination, waypoint selection, and MCDU page layouts and weight calculation errors, among others.

The autopilot system has also received much attention in this update, with fixes and improvements in VNAV mode switching, altitude alert handling, manual enroute holding, and more. In addition, the update addresses several issues that caused crashes during the simulation, improving overall stability and performance.

Alongside this update, Microsoft has also added a new video in the ATR 72-600 Discovery Series, focused on Flight Modes, Icing, VNAV & Precision Approach. The video provides an in-depth demonstration of advanced flight management maneuvers, in-flight icing conditions, and ILS approach, all in the ATR 72-600 context.

In the video, the narrator, who is an actual ATR pilot, navigates a flight from Nelson to Christchurch, demonstrating the use of the MCDU for flight planning, management of icing conditions, VNAV, and landing approach procedures.
